Six new substances added to REACH authorization list

September 1, 2010

A committee of Member States voted to add the first six substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to the REACH authorization list prohibiting the use of these substances in Europe without authorization. This is expected to enter into force in January 2011 and the deadlines for not using specific substances vary between 42 to 54 months after entry into force. The deadline for lead registrants responsible for coordinating the REACH registration process for producers and importers of the same substance is 30 November 2010.
