Energy Roadmap 2050 published

The Commission published its Energy Roadmap 2050 on 15 December 2011. This explored the challenges posed by delivering the EU's 'decarbonisation objective' of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 80-95 per cent below 1990 levels by 2050 while at the same time ensuring security of energy supply and competitiveness (the other objectives of the EU's energy policy) (see the section on: Energy).
